USO vs X-Slide

The main difference between the X-Arm and the USO room extension is leverage. The X-Arm moves the room about 23 inches with approximately 10 inches of cylinder stroke. This is accomplished by using leverage to multiply the stroke of the cylinder. However, this reduces the overall force that the X-Arm can apply.

When the X-Arm was designed, rooms were smaller and lighter. This mechanism supports the entire weight of the room, so as rooms became heavier and longer, the mechanisms deflected and the X-Arm did not have enough force to seal the room.

The USO was designed to address these issues. The room moves at the same rate as the cylinder and no leverage multiplication is used. This means that the USO applies maximum force on the room. The Universal also applies this force at the four corners of the room which results in better room control as it moves and also provides a superior room seal.

Guide blocks support the weight of the room with the USO and this allows heavier and longer rooms to be utilized in a floor plan. Additionally, the smaller and more robust design make the USO a significant upgrade over the X-Arm.
